With respect Tony, I think questioning what someone is teaching / preaching when they're clearly not living by their own standards doesn't constitute a personal attack.

Questioning sounds OK to me. But in this thread I read more hearsay than people asking others to share their experiences.

For what it's worth, I'd like to offer mine. I have taken classes at the Trackerschool and got lots of valuable information there, enough to last me for years. I'm happy I did that, because at the time I knew of no other place to get this sort of information.
Since then, I've practised both on my own and with others, and I have taken classes with many. To learn new things, to see how they teach, and to also experience classes which offer more dirttime.

Each teacher has his/her own style, strengths and weaknesses; yet in the end, Nature is our teacher.

Live and Love,
Anneke

there is a theroy that there are different types of learners Activist, theorist, pragmatist and reflecters. this may mean that some of us learn better from watching others, from doing, others by asking and questioning and others by aplying the learning to what we already know or by processing the info later. We are all these and sometimes stronger in one learning style, people may book on to courses subcontiously that suits there prefered learning style. Its horses for courses, ha ha get it... :lmao:

Yo.....Read his books and make a decision. From what I've read (and it's been a very long time ago) his skills are nearly magical. I am not a young fellow and have spent most of my life in the woods, yet I have no skills that come anywhere near to what he claims......Perhaps we would be well advised to follow the old "Caveat Emptor" slogan.....

Good post John! :)

I think this is the important comment:

"In the end, it was well worth the time, money, and effort to learn that if the world ended tomorrow, I'd survive just fine. "

Maybe he could have done a "better" course but he enjoyed that one.

The bit that did make me laugh was the pic of the guy enjoying the lecture......
