On a part of the Cowdray Estate near Midhurst. Only took a few pics, mainly because I’m seeing a huge rise in the amount of Mistletoe growing round here and wonder if anyone else who lives in Mistletoe country is seeing the same? There are a lot of trees around here looking like these below.

Also pictured, an ancient Chestnut and a very old Oak. There are many about this age here, planted on the estates to provide nuts for deer, and for coppicing for walking sticks and fencing.

Amazing!

Makes me wonder if the ancient tree recording site is still about. I’m off to check!
Let us know. From here in Midhurst right across to Petworth there are massive Chestnuts like the one in the pic. We’re also lucky to have Kingly Vale nearby too, where some of the Yews are estimated to be 2000 years old.

I must get a full pic of that old Oak, it’s a wonderful shape in the landscape.

It’s still around but a new site. I’m just re-registering and hoping I still have the trees I recorded on my name!

I suspect yours are there already but worth a check.

I think the Oak is The Queen Elizabeth the First Oak. It looks different in online pictures, but they aren’t recent.

Same place, different trees, leaves just coming out. More Mistletoe, it’s really prolific.

And I found the Queen Elizabeth tree, it’s not far from the other one pictured above.
