Went a family walk today in our local wood - it's on an old world war II airfield - thought I'd share some highlights:

Who made this:

A strange hurdle enclosure - wonder what's inside

Nothing obvious

Not seen a shroom like this before - but it could just be an oldy mouldy

Birch ploypore - the wood is riddled with it

More woodpecker signs

A decent size horeshoe fungus

A mahoooosive burl

Deer sign?

No idea what this is....

A secret tunnel

An underground shelter.. clean and dry inside

A lovely family walk!

That burl would make a great bowl!!

The Burl is about the size my torso...so it would be a big bowl!
