Has any one given toaster bags a go as an emergency cooking pot over or near a fire? I would assume that they would work as they can take the heat of a toaster.

I was thinking of these the other day, I have access to something we call speed tape, which is just sticky metal tape , was thinking about covering a toasty bag and having a go as the direct flames would be ok on the tape but still be flexible and packable.

Think you can get a speed tape type thing in Plumbing suppliers...

If I recall correctly, the toaster bags are fine to 230degC, and a well tended campfire *can* reach 600.
They work, but with care.
I've seen them used to make toasties for breakfast, and to heat up pies and bridies, at camp though.

cheers,
Toddy
