This is made from hazel, leather and hawthorn. The hazel shank was sanded with a rough sandpaper then lightly sanded with a smoother paper to leave a few grooves. It was then stained with a dark stain and then wiped and allowed to dry before before being stained again with a lighter stain. I think it gives it a nice look although this may be hard to see from the pics. The top was sanded and fitted with antler and buffalo horn tips. I didn't stain the top as i liked the grain. The spacer is a piece of 3 mm leather. After it had dried it was given 3 coats of matt varnish. It's 5 foot 6 high and roughly an inch and a quarter wide all the way down with very little taper.
