Came across this little fact over on the OS website

The Grid Reference is NH 02550 77010

Distance to nearest road = 11km or 7 miles away. The nearest road is the A832.

For this purpose, the remotest part of mainland Great Britain is considered to be the point farthest from a metalled road.

Remotest place, 7 miles ... I bet out US and Aussie friends are chortling at us now!!!!

This post got me thinking, and when I found this fact about Sweden I was very happy to live where I live.

Comparing the numbers for the UK and Sweden really does show us how crammed in we are over here.

The sad thing is that until someone works out a way of making "wild" land profitable, the amount of it is going to keep shrinking. So enjoy it wile you can and get the younguns to do the same.
