For the glory of the Empire?
If anyone's interested, this is a university research paper on English high-performance cotton's: Burberry, Ventile, Grenfell, and the likes. It's in PDF format, so those of you with slightly slower machines might have difficulty opening it.
It is also an extremely long read, but after I finished it, I felt that I had a higher understanding of how much science, work, manpower and effort went into the manufacture of those amazing materials.
