http://www.fjallraven.com/outdoor-equipment/Backpacks-and-Bags/Vintage-30-L and http://www.fjallraven.com/outdoor-equipment/Backpacks-and-Bags/Helags-40 are two options from Sweden if you want a strong backpack. I don't own one of those two but I have tested the Helags and I think I will buy it.
Since they are from Fjällräven (and Sweden) ,they will last forever.A story to prove it, a friend had a backpack from Fjällräven once when he was out driving snowmobile with a 100-150kg sleigh behind him and in some mysterious way one of the backpacks shoulderstraps was towing the sleigh and not the intended towing thing. Off the shoulderstraps seam only 1/8 was left but he still use it today hauling around stuff between 5-20kg (in a 35l bag).

Note i have connection with Fjällräven besides one of the biggest outdoor gear/clothes store and Fjällrävens outlet store is 30km away (plus it was started in my hometown :p)

Great looking sacs, but its interesting that the 1970's Norwegian army rucksack which is genuine canvas with leather fittings and bigger than the Helags 40 is only 2.4kg compared to the 2kg of the Helag.

I'm not having a go at the Helag as it undoubtedly will be a much better sac than the Norwegian ex army one, but I did think that the main penalty of the an old canvas/leather and steel frame rucksack was that it was much much heavier than modern sacs.
