if anybody knows herstmonceux castle in east sussex there are loads of veterain sweet chestnuts in its grounds and surrounding land. i think they look a bit like baobab trees, masive girth with a few little live branches left. one has also been struck by lightening and is hollow:)


i can maby get pictures if anyone wants?

Wow Fantastic tree!

The big yew near me sadly fell in '91, (The Selbourne yew if anyone is intrested) Was beautiful, and they think almost 1500 years old :eek:
