Hey,

It's 2.8 kg!! To me tarp trekking is about travelling light. A lot of full double wall tents are lighter...

Why can you not go with a normal tarp? I often spend time in the swiss/french alps and there are not much trees there. Only grass and rocks. I pitch my tarp with the center line of one end fixed to the ground and the other end of the center line is held up by an A-shape formed by my 2 walking poles. Pull the sides down and fix them to rocks, pegs,... Very stormworthy and adjustable by lowering/lifting up the poles and adjusting the tension in the guy lines.
I have a Hilleberg XP10 that comes with guy lines attached to corners and side lines. That is very usefull for that kind of things.

I hope this was usefull for you :)

Good luck and have fun,

Bjorn

I should have said that I would mainly use it for sea kayaking camping trips.
Weight is not a major factor when kayaking but 2.8 Kg is heavy.

They had one up when I was in globetrotter this lunch time... it looked very nice.

I like it over a tent not because of the weight (that's not the be-all and end-all of picking a tarp!) but because you're not isolated from nature or your environment, just the bad weather part.

Anyway, it looks like a very good bit of kit indeed, also have a look at the HUGE 4m x 5m cotton tarps - *drool* :lmao:
