...and excellent they were too. Still got my Survival Aids pile sleeping bag from the (?70s?) (lost the inner somewhere in the house) and its as good as new. Double ventile orange jacket got thrown out by the wife "cos it was scruffy........"

I did a navigation course on Cannock Chase with the Survival Club, I was fifteen at the time and the Chase was just up the road. I always wanted to do one of Lofty's Jungle courses but it was a bit beyond my means, did anyone get to go on one?

Well, it'll have to wait until I get back from Beyond the Border for me to have time to post up a picture, but as I recall it, those were the badges for the Johnny come lately's.

I held out from joining until 1990 - but they got insistant!
It was John Barry himself who talked me into it.
