Strop

I have recently made myself a strop, what I did was use some old leather off an old chair we were taking to the tip. I then glued it to a piece of pine floor board about 8x5 and have started using this. It has transformed my sharpening and I am well pleased. I often heard people talking on here about strops and the like and have tried the back of my belt but I must say this board is the business. I am sharpening everything in sight. So I now can say I can sharpen a blade.

Nice one, paddle strops add a new dimension to sharp! I even use one for my straight razors after honing and before the hanging strop, they really are great for keeping everything sharp.

Still really using an old belt attached to the handle on my back door. I'll give this idea a go, thanks for the tip. I don't usually go for pastes, but someone just gave me some jewelers rouge to try, anyone used it before, can you give me any feedback
