Strange mark on blade

I thought i'd spruce my knife up by making the edge really shiny with stropping.

When you really look at the blade there is a perfect line right in the centre of the bevel that follows exactly parallel to the blade running from the start of the handle all the way to the point on both sides.

Any idea what it could be?

It's definitely not poor sharpening where i've not been flat with the bevel as theres no way i could make that perfect a line, it's rather strange.

Is it a laminated blade?

If it is then it could well be the joint between the 2 metals you're seeing

Not at all, your polishing just made it visible.

No problem if the joint/lamination lines are visible,that's how it's meant to be, you have got yourself a decent knife,good quality production knives like Fallkniven and Helle etc. have laminated blades,it allows 2 different types and hardnesses of steel to be used to produce a stronger and more durable knife.

The fact that you're seeing the join is because the two metals react differently. nothing wrong with it at all Think of it as a really basic form of damascus.

I was worried i had damaged the blade. When i first got into bushcraft my old man got me the knife and Mors kochanski's "Bushcraft" so i'm glad it's not damaged.
