Handle stacked and set from mahogany and beech wood. Big thanks to kristopish for the advice on stacked handles

Handle holds up nicely thanks to internal pinning and epoxy

Handle has been roughly shaped and finger grooves cut as the guy requested.

He's asked for a wooden pommel but am trying to talk him round to some 8 bore cartridge brass to finish. Still a long way to go but it's getting there.

The blade is 440 differentially hardened with a 3/4 width tang and the bolster used to be a door knocker!

Anyway what do you think?

I don't trust epoxy for all I know it's very strong. So each section has a 1mm hole drilled into it and part of a panel pin epoxyd into it for extra strength. My scaled knives generally I do something similar being put a through pin inside. Of I decide to send it back to expose the pin it's there, if I like the grain it's just adding strength

That's belt and braces, then! Although, like you, I seldom feel happy relying on adhesive alone for anything.........Nice work there :)

Belt and braces is a perfect analogy! I've broken my own rule about only making practical knives, but I do like a bowie.

Better view of the finger grooves. Its actually a fairly comfortable grip. Not overly versatile but seemingly doesn't have to be

Cheers mate

Thanks topknot! The finish is coming on nicely with oiling. Just having to work out a sheath and its sorted.
