Split-Butt Leather - quick question

Hi all,

I've just got hold of some split butt leather - am I correct to assume I can use the dyes etc as per regular, unsplit leather? More likely I think - any special methods in dying / staining / treating split leather?

Use it like normal leather - but it doesn't emboss very well, and it's not easy to do things like stitch grooves. Burnishing the surface gives you a better finish.

Thanks for the help, I hadn't thought to burnish it but it's a great idea.
