This is a small bead twined possibles bag i made for my mum for Christmas last year. One of my main loves of woodland Indian culture is the great diversity of craft techniques. The bag has been bead twined which is a finger weaving technique which was used before bead and heddle looms were readily traded. The technique involves having a series of double warps which i usually clove hitch around a dowel core. The beads are then thread onto the weft.between each new row each set of warps is twisted so the warps twine around the wefts as you continue down the piece. There are 4270 size 6/0 beads altogether in the bag and i have gone for the classic Cherokee colour scheme of white black and red.
The body of the bag was done as one continuous piece and has 38 pairs of warp threads.
