Could anyone please supply us with at least quarter of a pound of soot (yes the black stuff) from a chimney or stove pipe thats only been used for burning wood.
I'm planning on making some blackball from beef tallow, beeswax and soot and since I'm unsure of the chemicals in coal soot and its effects on linen thread and leather I'd like to stick to the ingredients used back in the day. Ok I know sea coal was in wide use but I'd still prefare wood.
Happy to cover postage etc.
Also is anyone burning non poetroleum based oil in lamps as I'd like to get hold of some lampblack as well. I've no idea whats in the artists paint of that name but I suspect its probably chemical gunk. I only need small amounts of that.
I'll get my coat
