Got a PM from a gentleman from here asking if I could make a how-to.
I'm no expert on dead falls, and there are hundreds of ways to do it. Well, here it goes.

What you use as material for the trigger depends on what you got available.
In this case a piece of fairly straight grown pine from my firewood shed:

Then i split the piece into usable pieces:

Then I picked out three pieces that seemed ok, now you se the shape of the trigger:

Then I marked up for a notch in the upright piece:

The notch:

Then I marked up for the notch in the horizontal piece:

The notch in the horizontal piece, open at one end:

Now the notches on the vertical and horizontal piece fits together. And I've marked up for the other notches:

Last trimmings before the first test:

Does it work? After some small adjustments:

Darling! Duck for dinner!

It took about 15 minutes, and it is a good carving exercise.

So nice to see a tutorial that doesn't involve youtube. I feel such a luddite at times, but i prefer step by step stuff with pictures. Hell, you can even do the other luddite trick and print it out! :)

ps. how did you cook the duck?

You aint alone there - with my steam powered confuser it takes ages to get you choob to run, most of the stuff I find aint worth the effort and I get realy frustrated!
Step by step pictures are so much better!

Thanks guys.
I prefer photos aslo. Fiddeling with a videocamera takes twice as long, and I would probably tip it over and brake it at some point.

The duck was a bit rubberish, but the sauce was rather good.....
