Gene Ingram #6 Desert Ironwood.
Not mine, just making a dangler sheath for it but it's sooooo sweet.

RB,

Very nice - love Ironwood!

Rangerman,

Now if you like Ironwood, hows about a little mammoth ivory and a custom forged blade to go with it?

If you aren't drooling, check for pulse :D

And no its not mine worse luck (although I do have its blackwood and buffalo cousin ;) )

Mark,

Don't click here then......resist, resist, resist.....lol

Seriously though Magnus is a fantastic custom maker and by custom that is "only one of these will ever be made". I have exchanged many a mail with him and he is a top bloke. His prices are less than many charge for a "standard design" handmade and he will make anything you can imagine in the best materials. I only own one of his knives and it is jaw droppingly beautiful but also tough, sharp and a real "user". You could do worse than look at his site just to get an idea of what is possible. That said there are many talented makers around - why not have a look in the makers forum on British Blades - many there can guide you and you get a chance to see lots of ideas

they're stunning knives to look at but they look like pigs to live with as users... Don't get me wrong, a sharp knife is a sharp knife but for daily use they look a little jagged and overcomplicated for me.

I'm a big fan of simplicity when it comes to tools and equipment.

The scales on the GI are really nice but they feel strange.
I am wondering if they are stabalized, they feel very durable.

Sorry mate, but thats awfull (in my opinion anyway).

Looks like something the Klingons from Star Trek would use.

I am sure that a lot of time and effort went into it and the workmanship looks good but the style is a bit...

Hey,

Style is personal - no offense taken ;)

Personally I love the individuality of Magnus' work. I have a "standard" bush knife (AW clone) and its great and does the job just fine. Magnus knife is carved from antler and wood and (although I grant looks odd) anotomically fits my hand fantastically. The grip is certain, the materials are without equal and the style a "one off". I guess I like the fact that others say "Noooooooooo" - I'd kind of hate it if we all had Woodlores, GB SFAs, swannis and zebras - that would just make us sheep who couldn't decide what worked for us!

That's fair enough, I wasn't saying it to offend (perhaps my wording could have been a little more diplomatic though) and looking a little more closely I think the sheath is the main bit I am not dead keen on.
Regards, Scott.

Perhaps it's a good time to admit that I own (amongst other knives) one of those Chris Reeves Jereboams (sawback blade   ) that has since about 1990 been about as much use as a chocolate fireguard
