Hello all. I recently bought a skillhunt h300 light, direct from skillhunt. It ticks almost all of the boxes for me, apart from I'd have preferred usb-c charging rather than the proprietary magnetic charger.

Anyway, I've discovered that the magnetic charger only charges the 18650 battery to 3.68v. I was prompted to check this with voltmeter when I noticed the battery indicator light on the torch indicated partial charge, yet the charger was indicating that it was delivering no more power. I borrowed a nitecore charger from a friend and that will charge the battery to over 4v. Skillhunt sent me a new charger, but still it won't charge the battery beyond 3.68v. I've tried several power outlets and adapters. So I guess the issue is with the torch.

I'm about to send it back for repair, but I thought I'd check first, am I missing anything? Has anyone had similar issues? Is 3.68v some kind of magic number in the battery world?

Cheers, and I hope you're all doing well :)

Nope, the charger should charge it to 4.2v. I’d suggest trying a different battery, but the supplied one has a protection circuit meaning it’s a little longer than the more standard unprotected 18650 size. I’d send it back, it’s an expensive light and Skilhunt are a quality manufacturer.

3.6-3.7v is the voltage where a protection circuit cuts the power off in use, it might be that the circuit is faulty somehow for it to be that voltage it’s sticking at with the mag charger.

Well, your thoughts reassure me. Shame, as it is a fantastic looking torch, and decent head band too. Hopefully skilhunt will come good and fix it. Cheers.
