Sings of Spring

The last couple of weeks have been hectic ones. Between the drawing board, the desk, working in the field, the meetings, discussions, volunteering at Sarah’s school, and working in the yard, I’ve been near run ragged. Since today’s meeting was rescheduled I took advantage of the opportunity to hit the woods for a long walk and a much needed break

I rode up to Natural Bridge Road and on out to Crater Lake

This is the natural bridge but we’ve had so much rain lately the water is flowing over it as well.

It was a brisk, grey spring day and I was glad to see I had the area to myself…as far as people go anyway.

The lake was calm, and peaceful, just what I needed.

I found a few fish and started a Bluegill frenzy with my leftover pizza crust.

I’m not sure if these are bass or trout, anyone know for sure…they’re hard to see.

There was lots of new growth coming forth. I just called this one “spike”, I have no idea what it is but I’d like to have a hedge made of it.

You can see the pollen build up at the overflow.

and along the shore

I found several knees sticking up along the shore as well.

As I was walking through the scrub field Life Force flew over

I found several growths on young pine trees

and a lot of new moss

All in all it was a nice peaceful walk around the lake, through the woods, and across the fields…..I feel much better now :D
