Simple bench

Hello thought I show you my first bench which I made today. It was great fun and the result is an useable bench for outdoor use but it wins no beauty contest.

First I looked for a fitting already fallen tree and used my newly sharpened saw.

Then I split it using an axe and a wedge. I used the log in the background as a "hammer" which gave great power.

Then I used an auger to drill 4 holes.

Then I looked for fitting legs and dimensioned them and putt the thickest part against the ground.

Nice bench.

I'm on the lookout for a log to split for the same reason. I think I'll have to take a saw for a walk in the local woods and look out for a decent sized downed tree. It will have to be early though as I don't want to freak the neighbours when they see me dragging half a tree down the street.
