The Lansky System is ok but the stone surfaces are narrow and prone to rolling in use. The diamond stones wear out quickly, especially the more coarse grit stones. I'd recommend the DMT Diafold® Magna-Guide™ (coarse and fine grits) or Diafold® Quad Magna-Guide™ (coarse, fine, x-fine, xx-fine) Sharpening System (it's what I use when I need to regrind an edge profile on a knife and need it to be precise). It's fast, easy to use, compact, short learning curve, the diamond surfaces last a very, very long time, excellent DMT diamond Dia-fold hones that can be used free hand when needed by themselves and it's inexpensive. Check it out.

I have no association with this company, yada, yada, yada ...

Hope this helps.

Be safe.

The banks of the Deveron.
Wet and dry on MDF for scandi, mouse mat for convex.

Super duper stuff I find.

If you try it with Jeds 6000 grit micromesh it's amazing the results you'll get.:D

Another vote for the Spyderco Sharpmaker, really easy to use and gets anything I've tried it on to a razors edge.

I use wet+dry stuck to a piece of wood or stones too and a DC4 for out and about but the Sharpmaker is a great piece of kit if you're not too sure about the other methods.

Stuart.
