What do you use to sew leather?

I've made a strop thanks to a lovely member here, but I'd like to branch out and make my axes and knives some proper sheaths by my own hand (all but 1 axe so far have a sheath, but I want to see what its like to make one).

Any help appreciated.

Bushcrafter through and through
for hand sewing, i would recommend the book the art of hand sewing by al stohlman.

For hand sewing i use an edge groover to mark out my stitching line. A stitch wheel or a two pronged fork to mark out my stitches evenly. A good sharp awl to punch each hole. Then saddle stitch using two blunt needles, with either artificial sinew or thick linen thread (i wax it myself with beeswax).
