sellf inflating mat aka thermarest

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
I tried two Netto shops earlier today and found them to be a bit chaotic. They didn't
have what I was after, although the shop in Locksbottom (near Petts Wood) has 65L
rucksacks and four-person tents. The less said about the one in Peckham Rye the
better - mind you it was a Saturday afternoon.

It was very difficult to get out of the shops - in both cases I had to ask security staff
to let me out. The exits are incorporated into the checkout sections so if you're not
buying anything it's a bit of a palaver to leave :)

Not a Netto fan - it didn't have the relaxed browsing experience of Argos ;)

Ive never tried a self inflating mat. I take it they are more comfortable than roll mats? I have a bit of a bad back so my days of using a roll mat are pretty much over. Any ideas on if a self inflating mat would be ok for me? Stupid question really but I dont want to buy one if it ends up left in the attic.

Are they as comfortable as air-beds? :)

Air-beds are certainly soft but turning over on them is a bit of a challenge - plus not
very light to carry (unless you're taking a car).

I'm going to go with one of the Alpkit Airics for now and will report back after I've tried
it out in June - assuming I can get one as they are out of stock at the moment. You
can send an email to support@alpkit.com to be kept informed when they are back in
stock. http://www.alpkit.com/airic/

If I can't get one of those it will be a Thermarest.

... and if your purchase choice turns out to be suited to the attic there is always eBay
of course...

Thanks for that Jodie. Let me know how you get on.

As you say if its no good there is always ebay, or maybe sell it on here? :)
