anybody tell me the Diameter and length (rod only) of the little scout firesteel

About 5mm dia and about 35mm length if memory serves me correctly.

All mine are the larger ones. (unless I've got my names mixed up)

I own a scout model, made by Primus. My buddy Alex owns the regular (military?) size model.

I actually prefer the smaller one, to be honest. Celtic's right about the size, but you can make your firesteel's last a lot longer by only using little bits of the rod at the time.

PS: Intestingly enough, the can opener on a SAK works wonders as a striker!

i got a cunning plan see :theyareon: :thinkerg:

i have a large firessteel with no handle. which is a little big for said plan

and like the little 3mm rods of the BCB kits you can strip off the metal holder and fit them in a SAK in place of the toothpick (cos you can make a toothpick )

The american one is very small and ideal for keyrings. I own both and it's the one I always have with me as a result of its small size.
