Today I was lucky enough to be involved in a PR day for my Scout County of East Lancashire, where Radio Lancashire hosted a full three hour outside broadcast from our campsite, Bowley.

My involvement was to instruct a group of Scouts in how to prepare a trout for cooking over the fire...which we did in two ways:

  • Ponassed
  • Steamed in wet newspaper.

The pictures can tell the tale far better than me:

Other activities included Crate Stacking, knife skills and making bannock...overall, a huge marketing coup for local & national Scouting.

Many thanks to Stephen "Axeman" Lowe of Radio Lancashire for his enthusiasm and outside broadcast...and to all the Leaders, across the Country, that make such events happen!

This is excellent and great to see the Scouts in full uniform- I never understand why people knock their uniform when they have 30,000 on the waiting list. The activities you did with them are really good. Thanks for giving up some time for other people.
