New by-laws to ban camping in certain areas of east Loch Lomondside have been approved by the Scottish government.
The legislation, proposed by the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, is designed to tackle the impact of "irresponsible camping".
Camping is to be outlawed between Drymen and Rowardennan from 1 March to 31 October every year. The law comes into effect from 1 June 2011.
A public consultation on the plan was held by the national park last year.
Of the 286 responses, 60% were in favour of the ban, the park said.
The new laws make it an offence to camp in tents or other shelters inside the 14 sq km (5.4 sq miles) restricted zone.
But the authority has said it has no plans to ban camping in other areas of the national park, which contains 21 Munros.

If you have been down to that area you'll understand why they want to ban it. The number of fires that have been set under roots or against trees is disguisting. The same with the number of trees that have been cut. Every time I go I take spare bin bags to cart back the rubbish I find. It's an easily accessed area by car which is the root of the problem IMO. I love camping in that area (I've really enjoyed it over this winter, too) but I too support the ban.
