Ludlow and in the wild
Yikes, have just applied for residency in canada.
Its a huge, scarey move, but, wow, what a country. Hoping to go to Alberta (around the rockies). It's a v long process, up to 4 years at the mo for the application to be processed. At least it gives me a chance to find work in forestry. Will keep you all posted on how i get on. The plan is to buy alot of land, so perfect for a bit of bushcraft (not that you need it out there).
Wish me luck

Hoping to do the same, do you know of the hunting laws concerning ryfles and bushcraft knives yet? I cannot imagine that they are anywhere as retentive as we are in the UK

hope it all waorks out faster than you think.

Jamie

I'm sure that Canadian Forestry will make what we do here in the UK,especially in the south of England, look like gardening! All the best with your enterprize Baggins! From Swyn

No automatic weapons, no short barreled shotguns, no handguns - except under very restriced circumstances - otherwise - no problem.

I don't think you'll get any comment on knives.

With knives you're supposed to wear them openly rather then tucked away.

It's a great place, I've got family out there in Alberta near the mountains. good for you. They still have seasons there :D

Lovely country, pleasant laid back courteous people.

You are making a good move.

One thing,IIRC,there are some places, near the rockies,Banff,Jasper etc where you can't buy property, only rent.I have no idea how far this restriction goes but it would be worth enquiring early on.

Would this also applie when he became a full citizen or is this just for non-citizens? (Not that I could afford to buy a play in Banff anyway! lol).

Thanks,

Bam. :)

It is probably within the National Park areas.

It would be safer to ask someone who knows all the facts. ;)

I've only visited Canada and that was a point of interest I picked up,like you do. :)
