its basicly a very dense bit of foam with abracive stuff (like sand paper) stuck to all sides of it..
this one is a very low grit probably 100 or something but i wonder if they are avalible in finer grit does anyone think they could be used for sharpaning or has anyone used them for it?

oh right.. it seems to be dencer than mouse matt foam al-la hoodoo hone.. but i guess thats got solid wood underneath... ah well just an idea!

Foam erasers intended for whiteboards I think they are made by a company called Nobo) work quite nicely in the Hoodoo Hone (TM) mode, just cut the fluffy stuff off and attach wet & dry with some carpet tape.

I have used them before on both wood and steel you can use them like a light strop but there too soft for real sharpening and too course for a fine edge but there good for wood buffing on handles

My problem with them is that they are too pricey.

If you can find one of these, they work good.

This is my favorite. Glue some mousepad to it for convex edges or use it flat for the rest.

I use the sponge sanders in various grits to finish paddle shafts but I recently discovered that my supplier also deals in foam backed sanding supplies . Farily dense foam sheet with the saning paer already attached.
