It used to be such a common thing; children sleeping outdoors in the garden in Summertime, and then the horror of a stolen girlchild made everyone so wary.
The RSPB have suggested that parents and children give it a shot together this time round.

My sons and their friends slept out to the extent that there was a bald patch on the lawn every year. The biggest thing that frightened the youngest was the cat sneaking in under the flysheet when he was sound asleep :D
Good times :)

I have woken up as a teenager with a strange cat clawing at my forehead, through the inner tent , dangerous places back gardens. It will be a good thing to get more people involved. The national trust are running a similar one, "things to do before your 13" , one is "cook marsh mallows on a camp fire", presumably on national trust land without getting shot or arrested.
