I just recieved one of a limited number of these from Andrew at Outdoorcode :You_Rock_

Must say I'm very impressed.

I already own a Roselli Allround Axe - Long, so I knew that I'd be getting my hands on a well crafted peice of kit.

Roselli's tools are incredibly well made and he has a knack (IMO) for a acheiving a perfect balance of form and function.

Obviously Roselli cant take all the credit for this as the Ulu is such a traditional tool, he just manages to deliver such reassuring quality and simplicity into his work.

Will get some pics up soon hopefully and a bit more of a review (maybe after wknd) but suffice to say that this is one hell of a piece of kit.

A VERY excited Scruff :approve: :1244:

ps. This is the sharpest 'straight outta the box' tool I have ever recieved!

I missed these, I think Mrs Strop would have liked one for chopping food and my fingers off so I cant keep ordering stuff from Andrew lol

Happy Chopping

Hello scruff :)
I saw those but had to resist, i'd like to hear how they perform though, i've never used an ulu.
I'd have to agree about roselli though, i just took delivery of a very beautiful allround axe -long from andrew and it seems superb! cheers for your earlier comments recommendations :beerchug:

Got mine this morning too :D
Can't wait to get food out for chopping for dinner and if I have any fingers left tomorrow, to have a go at skinning and filleting some fish.
This is one serious kitchen knife!

What is the blade thickness on these? They look great but I wonder if they are thin enough to perform the multifunctions of an ulu.

My ulus are somewhat less than 1mm thick and just glide through foods.

These are about 2.5-3mm at the top, but taper pretty quickly towards the "business end." I can see that a thinner blade may be more adept, but haven't really used it for much more than chopping oinions and garlic today so far.
I am impressed with it in many ways, but can already see the merit of a smaller and thinner one.
Let you know how it goes tho.

It does look like it would handle quite well, but I was thinking it would be about 1/8" thick.

The beauty of my ulu's is that they are made from hand saw blades which are very thin and flexible. No resistance to a push cut through bread, hard vegetables, or cheese.
