The Robens Vapour Airbed is one of the lightest sleep mats I could find. Actually finding it for sale was hard as there appears to be very little stock of these anywhere. The mat looks identical to the Alpkit Cloudbase but Alpkit are out of stock of that too!

Came next day from Outdooraction.co.uk who did have stock. Price was £39.95 with free postage on two purchased together. The specs on the box state a weight of 395 g and a R value of 1.6, they rate it for use down to +6C

On weighing and measuring the mat it came in a little over weight at 409 g and 429 g in stuff sack but size was spot on at 190 cm long and about 57 cm at widest point tapering to less than 50 cm

There is a repair patch and instruction sheet included. They recommend using a Robens airbag to inflate the mat but as I intend to use these for lightweight trips I tried inflation by mouth. The downside is you introduce some moisture into the mat.

On the hard floor the 6 cm depth gave good comfort with even a side sleeping position not compressing the mat to the floor.

There is no insulation in the mat so it packs away really compact. I actually managed to pack both mats into one stuff sack.

All in all I am impressed with the mats and I hope to expand on this review once I've used them overnight out in the hills.

Quick update having spent two nights out in the Cairngorms sleeping on the mats. Despite temperature dropping to near freezing the mat seemed to insulate ok and I did not feel cold to the ground. The mat packed away really compact and was quick and easy to inflate by mouth but I was aware of a bit of moisture getting in from my breath. Even though I slept mostly on my side I did not compress the mat to the ground and it was nice and comfortable. All in all I would recommend for all but the coldest conditions.
