I've said in other threads that I support the rewilding of Britain, including Kent. Well today the local zoo started a new rewilding project with the release into the countryside near Canterbury of a lion-tailed macaque... either that or it escaped earlier...

Either way, Macaque on the loose!

Now were they ever native? :D

Still the phrase "Macaque on the loose!" is fun to say, up there with "We're gonna need a bigger boat."
Some of the non-native animals that are getting a foothold in the UK are going to the countryside wanders interesting in time.

Speaking of zoo escapes I like the story of the orang-utan that trained a shrub in his enclosure over a period of years so that he could escape. Which he indeed did. Like to think of that playing the long game. Why they make the best librarians don't you know! Ooook!
