Big flocks on the moor here this morning,winters on the way.

Heard a few calling overhead this morning while out in the woods trying to get some sound recordings of Fallow deer. Big flocks of Crossbill as well and a Goshawk calling in the distance - lovely!

On Wednesday 9th October 2013 I saw my first flock of redwings in Grimsargh near Preston in Lancashire, and over the following hour whilst walking my dog must have seen 10 or 12 flocks totaling many hundreds. On Saturday 12th October traveling up the M6 to the Lake District saw flocks of redwings and a few fieldfares so I have to agree winter is definitely on its way.
