Red-legged Partridge

Whilst cooking tea tonight I spotted this pair in the garden

Photos were taken through the kitchen window so are a bit blurred because Liz hasn't cleaned them

Almost certainly a pair. Piccs two and three are the male (note the spurs on the leg)

Was so chuffed at this, not only was Nath cooking tea, but to see these was fantastic

The glorious 12th is about Grouse!

I would rather have a patridge to a grouse, feed them Dave then slip them a whisky in their last feed.

Delicious birds. If I remember correctly, the red leg is an invasive species, introduced because they can be driven towards the guns like pheasants for driven shoot days, and they are squeezing out our indigenous grey legs. Red and Grey - like squirrels but the other way around.

Nice visitors to the garden Nathan. As said I would try feeding them to see if they became regular visitors.
