I got myself a firesteel, and having a lack of natural tinders to try my hand at I started to have a good look about to find something to burn :p

my research has led me to find a fantastic discovery... Jiffy bags. These beauties are made from waxed paper layers with paper pulp sandwiched between them.

In a thunderstorm I went into the garden with my firesteel and it went 'scritch...smolder...wumpfff!' :D

There are so many of them around just destined to become landfill. ;)

Have fun and keep your tinder dry

Hi Greywolf,

Great stuff,

Have you tried tumble drier fluff yet? not to brilliant as it is usually small fibres. We got some Lichen from the Elan Valley a couple of weekends ago, it is still drying out in the porch, so will give that a go soon.
