I was given a Real Steel Cormorant a couple of years ago and it annoyed me from the moment I first set eyes on it. I mean... What is this?!
After stripping off the superfluous BS, what you're left with is a nice blade, like that of a paring knife, with a handle that's too short. Thus it sat in a drawer, unloved until today. I forgot to take a 'before' photo but here it is mid glue-up.
As you can see I packed out the triangular cutouts and extended the handle backwards. The hole at the front isn't circular which is why I didn't use it for a pin.
Clamped, dried, drilled and doweled, then a bit of sanding and a lick of linseed oil. Sorry for the poor lighting.
It may not win any beauty prizes but it is very comfortable and at least it'll get used now.
