The quicksand is new to me!
I must investigate sometime.
Have you tried Kinder Scout, Mam Tor and Lose Hill, Win Hill, Alport Castles, Bleaklow and Londendale, to name but a few!
In fact the whole of the Pennine Way has lots of high peak / low valley combinations.
Isn't the UK a wonderous place. It's too bad that it is all owned by somebody else!

Absolutely certainly no quicksand there, i've walked and cycled round that area many many times.
It's been 10 years since i was last there but i can't see the geology changing that much in such a short amount of time.
I'd bet large sums of money that those signs are just to keep people off their land.
Not much gets by the PDNPA but i'd certainly drop them a email or phone them to let them know.
