Question about Norway

Hi guys me and my wife would like to plan a trip to Norway, we want to keep the cost down as much as possible, we would like to hire a canoe and paddle up and down a river for a few days and pitch at random locations to do a bit of wild camping, will this be possible or would we need to be with a guid the whole time or seek permission. I just want it to me and her the entire time and the freedom to do as we please.
Has anyone done this is so any info would be great.

Theres no requirements for a guide, and most canoe rental places don't have any guiding service, and if they do it will cost. I have no idea what a guide will cost, but I doubt you will get anyone to do it for less than 1000NOK pr. day.
Theres no need to seek any permissions either. You need to pay a fee to fish, but thats all.
Paddeling up a river could be challenging as most rivers have pretty rapid current and white water in between. At many canoe rental places you leave the canoe at a place down stream for the company to pick it up later.
I would absolutely recommend Femunden Canoe Camp. It is dead smack in the middle of one of the wildest, and most beautiful part of the whole of scandinavia. And the wild camping and bushcrafting oportunities are close to endless.
Since Femunden is in one of the most remote places of Norway it can be a bit tricky to get there with public transport, but it is doable with train and busses from Oslo Airport.
