Purification Straw!

Can any of you guys recommend them or are they one of those items to stay away from?

I take it you mean the guy selling the straws?

I heard they were a bit of a flawed concept. They are stored in a tube, what if contaminated water gets in the tube and gets onto the end you drink from, the straw wont stop you from becoming ill. Much safer to filter and boil water.

I have used the Istraw (available from Blacks and millets) and millets do another one which I have not used. I like the fact that there is no iodene used.
