Propane adapted for UK?

Apologies if this doesn't really fit here, but I wasn't sure where to ask. I did post a few times on British blades, but it seems that site doesn't work anymore...

I ordered a Becma gas forge to have a play with (tried using a fire and blower a few times...). Unfortunately the gas regulator is a German (?) fitting and doesn't fit the 47kg propane cylinder I have sat here, waiting to feed the forge...

I've searched online but I'm at a bit of a loss. Is there an adapted of sorts I can buy for this? Or do I just need to buy an entirely new regulator?

If you have a moment and could spare a thought, it would be appreciated.

P.s. I did try linking but it doesn't seem to work, if you search for Becma gas forge it'll easily come up.

Also, I did and have tried contacting the manufacturer over the past few weeks but their communication (and delivery time) is really poor.

Just get a new UK regulator, only a few pounds to purchase.

Might need to cut the hose and re-make the joint, but simple enough to do normally.

Check witch range the german regulator has. Buy a british one with the same range.

Strange you have that problem. I took a Swedish made outdoor grill with me when I moved from Sweden to UK, and the regulator fitted on UK gas bottles.

If the reg is blue, buy a red one

Do just check the working pressure of the forge though. You might need an adjustable reg

Thank you, and thanks for the link! That one does seem somewhat similar.

The pressure range for the forge is described as 0.5-4.0 bars.

I may well have to just get a new regulator (and a new hose, and fittings etc).

I only wonder, if there is some sort of adapter that would make this all much easier?

I would have a got at it on the lathe myself, but i don't have any spare brass, nor can I cut 'pipe' threads.

This has a W 21.8 × 1/14" LH connector. You can get adaptors to mate with whatever cylinder you have. Probably Calor?

However, what you want to achieve is the opposite to what most folks in the UK would want (e.g. trying to connect a continental gas cylinder to their UK spec motorhome) so you may have more luck looking at continental sites. The Will Hayward link has two adaptors that each go to M20 on the outlet so you could connect them back to back with a barrel nipple. But I think you may find that it is cheaper to just replace the regulator.

That's a quarter inch connector, the one you want is a 3/4 left hand thread.

Quicker and cheaper to got to a calor outlet and buy over the counter part.

It is really easy to replace the regulator - and hose is cheap. I'd suggest replacing the regulator, just like others have said. Had to do the same myself on a dutch boat when I brought it to the uk.

A quick look on ebay, and I see that you can buy POL fitting (to match UK propane bottles) adjustable regulators, for about sixteen and an 'alf quid.
Search on "RADHP04".

Thanks folks! I've done as suggested and just ordered a new regulator as trying to find an adapter was a bit farcical. The regulator has the same fitting as my current hose so I'll be able to get it up and working now straight away (although I may still buy another hose. The one that arrived is only 1m long.... The thought of having a forge running at 1200c only a meter away from a propane cylinder makes me a little anxious!
