I am In the process of taking out a 50 yard long hedge of Privet and able to get logs up to 4" in diameter at he base of some of them.
Is it worth harvesting Privet as a firewood? Does it burn well once I give it decent season? Or is it not worth the hassle?

thanks.

You might as well save 2" and bigger. Other applications such as rustic/garden furniture, wood turning and wood carving come to mind.
The fresh cut ends would need painting with anything (paint/glue/etc) to slow down and even out the rate of water loss from the logs.
Of course, for firewood, the faster the drying the better.
Having said that, any local political requirements for stacking and storage?

There are a couple of Canadian cities where wood carvers have run afoul of local regulation, mostly as ^&%%^$ neighbors complained.
The carvers are NOT allowed to have wood longer than 24" and it must be stacked as firewood. I can't create fiction as stupid as this.
I have pieces 5" x 5" x 54" - 72" and nobody blinks.
