I recently got hold of a medium ALICE pack, but it didn't come with a frame and it hung like a pig on my back. Couldn't find a frame anywhere in this country, so decided to make one.

Coppiced some Hazel from a site at work, may have been better to let it season, but it seems absolutely rock solid and sits really comfortably, also gives me lashing points to keep my dossbag outside the main pack.

Nicely done! Green hazel is used for chairmaking; it lasts a surprisingly long time without anything doing to it and the occasional split has very little effect on the structure so I'm sure you'll be fine. You could always give it a light oiling/waxing to be sure.
