IMHO it'll stop when some or all of the following happen
  • We go electric
  • Energy companies stop taking the pi$$ with mahoosive profits (it's not effiency savings that are boosting profits, it's gouging to make up for 2020 (when they still made a profit!))
  • We scale back our dependency on fossil fuels
  • The oil supplying companies open the taps a little to increase supply and so reducing cost
Until then, get your wallet out and bend over and grab yer ankles!

The OPEC countries have recently agreed to increase production but the current rise in refined oil products such as petrol & diesel is largely due to stock markets speculating on shortages due to the dependance on Russian oil & refined oil products. Europe's refineries are working full blast so there shouldn't be any real shortages but as long as we allow traders to decide the prices of commodities, it's unlikely prices will be going down while there is instability in the market.
Funny enough, when I did the weekly shopping at my local supermarket on wednesday, the petrol was € 1,91 a liter when I entered the shop & to my surprise, it had jumped to € 2,09 when I came out about 30 minutes later. Bearing in mind, the supermarket had already bought the fuel at a lower rate so the price rise is completely unjustified, just sheer profiteering during all the confusion.

Eastwards!
Lifestyle change?
Get rid of the pointless MPV? Nissan quashquai for one.
Legalise e-scooters. When hens have teeth…
Get those in authority to sort out our public transport system. Again when hens have teeth.
Force BT to make the internet work better than it does in Lithuania! Hens may have evolved to have teeth and rocking horses may provide valuable manure by then!!!

Prices and wages are an interesting study :)

Over the last 50 years, most prices have gone up around 10 times; but fuel has gone up 20 times the 1972 price (8p/L to 180p/L).

Average earnings have only gone up 6 times - so, on average, people are worse off now than 50 years ago in the UK.

However, that's not surprising, because in that time many other countries have increased their competitiveness - wealth can neither be created nor destroyed; it merely changes hands :)

Yep, a pint of milk was 5p - it's now about 50p; a dozen eggs was about 20p - it's now £2 (bought direct from the farm). Some stuff is a little more, other stuff a little less. Average house price though has gone up dramatically.

Unfortunately it's an impossible dream but if we ALL stuck together we could beat them all. Day one, everyone stop using electricity for 5 mins a day, gas ditto, don't refuel vehicle juice for 24hrs. Day two double up, day three 3x. Im sure if they were hit in the pocket like us bottom feeders things would eventually change im sure. Im no economist but im sure that things would level out eventually. There's simply too many people employed in bean counting to make more and more cyber money and not enough grunts creating tangible products that are of actual practical use
