Just got in after 2 hours with the middle son having a go at keeping a fire alight in the snow.
We used a couple of sticks to make a simple shelter with the canvas basha sheet I made last year as part of a period trecking kit. When I packed up after a couple of hours there was 2 or 3 inches of snow half way up the slope of the sheet.
We had a great time although the snow put us off frying the sausages we'd taken out and I think the lad learned alot about tending a fire. After he'd gone in I took the shelter down and sitting in my blanket capote was perfectly confortable and the fire kept going until I stopped feeding it. It was dead quiet as the snows put everyone off driving on the back streets.
Ok no biggy in the great scheme of things but a bit of a adventure for a 10 year old and truth be said for his dad.
