Having been inspired by various peoples Scandinavian trips over the past couple of years and most recently, I had a go at laavu camping Saturday night. My attempt was very much a third rate attempt i.e. it wasn't in Scandinavia but by the River Aire at the back of my village; but i did use a pulk to carry the tent, ok a kids sledge :)

Well done for getting out, nice set up.
I isn't that one of the Argos tipi's? I've also got one, but it's a bit bigger. Mine's really badly made, but only cost about £50 in the sale if I remember right. Already had holes in it when I unpacked it - but it's huge and gets used for occasional family + friends summer camps. We've had 12 people in there, sleeping like the spokes on a wheel.

Yes, pretty sure it is. I have one of the smaller ones. Cheap and cheerful but has done the job a few times and even survived a long weekend at a festival under the tender mercies of my son and his mates.

Yep it is an Argos tipi, the 4 man one. I bought it off ebay a couple of years ago for the princely sum of £25 after seening Twodogs first Norway trip. Mine doesn't have any obvious faults so very lucky. I will be sorting it for the collapsable wood stove I made very quickly so I can use it again soon.

Nice one. Really look forward to seeing how you fix it up for the stove.

No Chis, just normal brandy:eek:

John, it is a karrimor Predator 45. I didn't have a lot with me, Army bivi bag, Millets down 500 sleeping bag, axe, knife, saw, 2 foam mats, tin of irish stew, a boil in bag beef stew, honey stove, tray to stand it on, german messtins with a couple of odds and ends. the pack was rather empty; a first for me. The tent and water went on the sledge.
