It was wonderful. He chatted for an hour and a half about four expeditions
to pick up some seeds to replant Kew and Wakehurst Place; showing
slides of plants, mountains and people. He used all the scientific terms for
them (I felt like I'd gatecrashed a party of botanists) so I just had to look
at the pictures ;)

Actually it would go down quite well at the Royal Geographical place - they
rather like expedition slides.

Lovely evening all round - a nice walk to the lecture theatre along tree lined
streets and Kew Gdns station is gorgeous.

The evening started with a woman getting members of the audience to
participate in a recreation of sounds of a rainforest with bamboo rain sticks,
stuffed toy birds from Kew's shop and strange things that sounded like
thunder.

All good, if a little unusual :)
