Thought I would comment as the post is not being ignored, I can't think what it is at the moment but it does look familiar but not one that grows in my woods/meadow.
I'm very busy at the moment but if I get chance I will have a good look though my books to see if I can help but I can't promise I will have any luck.

In that case I wonder if its some sort of Chard like plant. Can chard Hybridize?

It is waxy with iregular leaf edges. I see a little red in the stem which also appears to come straight from the Rhizome

Looks like beetroot, both leaf and stem, to me. If there's more than a few of them, can you have a little dig around and see if there's a tuber?

It's definitely got that root veg look about it. I was going to say turnip or swede but you might be right with the red stem.
