Some help on this one please folks.
I have just found one of my old Spanish leather wine carriers ( or 'Botas' )
and before using it again I got to wondering if the pine pitch that lines it may be toxic!
I know that they have been around for thousands of years, but in the back of my mind I have something telling me that ingesting pine pitch, or tar is poisonous!!?
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Chris.

I have never heard that pine pitch or pine tar is toxic, as in; it will poison you. But I know that pine tar has components that can cause cancer.
But then again, so does potato chips.
And as these botas are old I guess they are used before without harm?

I recommend a search on the web for more advise.
